Hairspray for long lasting beach waves!

Product Blog : Beach Born’s Sea Salt Spray

I have always wished to have those gorgeous beach waves!

I was born with very straight hair. Growing up, I have used all the method you can all imagine just to curl my hair – the classics rollers, curling rods, cassava leaves, etc. Each method took forever but the curls would only stay for about an hour because of my naturally straight and soft hair. A lot of people envied my straight hair while I feel frustrated for not getting those lovely curls that I always want. I guess, we always want what we don’t have.

Straight and Curly.PNGWhen I started working, I began using different curling irons which works great but the curls would still stay for a couple of hours. I tried different sprays, mousse and wax to hold the curls but it was either not working or it holds the curls but is drying my hair big time. So, I stopped using those and just curls my hair with my ever trusty Babyliss Pro which is amazing. My curls last long but I am still left wanting more.

I was browsing through some beach must-haves on Instagram when I learned about BeachBorn’s lip balms  (which is my #1 fave lipbalm. See my lipsavers blog HERE) and of course, the reason why you are reading this right now, the Sea Salt Spray. I contacted Sarah from Beach Born right away, who is by the way a total sweetheart and ordered one of each. I was so impressed by their payment options. They accept payments via bank deposit for BPI, BDO and East West, payments via PayPal and guess what, Cash on Delivery which is very rare for online or IG sellers. Sure, you have to add another 50 bucks for COD orders but that is way too much convenience for the busy buyers like me who spends at least 9 hours at work. I won’t need to run to the nearest bank branch to get this baby.

Astoundingly, I received my package right the very next day.Package.PNG The smoothest transaction I have ever had! I opened the package with too much excitement in my heart. The packaging immediately captured my attention. I just couldn’t take my eyes off them. I fell in love with the black and white combo with slightly shiny sticker labels. It looks so chic yet rustic because of the woven ribbon wrapped around the very bottle.

Next thing I did is remove the plastic cap so I can smell it and oh my, it doesn’t have a bothering chemical-ish smell because it is made with 100% natural food grade ingredients which makes it super safe for everyone to use. This includes pregnant and/or lactating women so no more preggy pass for bad hair days.

That’s already too much awesomeness but hey, there is more! This is one of the most budget-friendly hair spray I have ever bought. This 100 ml bottle only costs P180 (around $4). After using it for a couple of days, I would say that this can last for 2 to 3 months. Pretty good investment!

Before using, I strongly recommend you shake the bottle to get all that good stuff inside mixed well before spraying to your hair. Please go easy on spraying it to your hair because one spray can cover a pretty decent section and like any other hair spray, it makes your hair kind of dry after. For the record, the product feels very light on my hair. It is way better than other hair sprays available in the market. It does add bounce and volume to my hair which I love a lot. My colleagues kept telling me that my hair looks so bouncy and healthy the entire shift.

I usually spray it after I curl my hair so the curls would stay longer than usual but if you are not a big fan of using the curling iron, below tips would be perfect for you:

  1. Air dry your hair until it’s a bit damp.
  2. Spray a generous amount of the Sea Salt Spray on your hair – I usually spray from middle to the tips.
  3. After spraying, create one big hair bun or 2 mini hair buns (pigtails). I suggest you keep the bun(s) close to your neck area or not higher than your ears. Having it super high would create not so pretty waves.
  4. Rock that look for at least an hour. Then, let your hair down!
  5. Use your fingers to fix your hair and not look to messy and that should give you gorgeous natural-looking beach-ready waves.

Beach Born have partnered with BeautyMNL and have made this Sea Salt Spray more accessible to everyone. Here are Beauty MNL’s tips in using Beach Born’ Sea Salt Spray:

For heatless beach waves that last all day: Spray a generous amount of on dry hair and tie hair into a top bun or large braids. Let set overnight.

For the perfect bed head look: Spray generously on dry hair then twist and scrunch in large sections.

For a heatless blow-dried look with sexy volume: Spray on damp hair and let air dry.

To keep curls gorgeous for 24 hours: Spray generously before and after curling.

I intentionally did not wash my hair one day to test if my curls will really stay for 24 hours. Check out the pictures to see how my little hair experiment turned out.

I had those amazing curls for more than 24 hours. It still looked like how it was during hour #1 and did not cause any funky smell. What’s more amazing is, I have been wearing those beachwaves almost everyday since then.

So my verdict?
