I just bid my 20’s goodbye!
Don’t get me wrong! I have no qualms about me leaving my 20’s behind. I am pretty sure I screwed some things up but I am also certain that I enjoyed most of it.
A good friend of mine once told me that our 20’s is the perfect time to make a whole lot of mess. People will cut you some slack most of the time. “But be careful”, she added. “You’re gonna have to clean up all that mess in your 30’s”. I am very much aware of the whole “cause and effect” logic. I have always thought about the consequences of my actions before I even made them but I didn’t really understand what she meant. Now, that I am in my 30’s, I think I finally do.
I looked at the mirror and I saw fine lines. I was shookt (this is probably the first time I am using this millenial term and I hope I am using it correctly LOL ) ! It was a wake up call for me. Life-changing indeed!
There were nights I slept with makeup on because I was too lazy to wash my face. I drank soda more often than water. I stayed up super late at night just because I can. There were many other things I did in the past that I didn’t know will impact my health, my skin, my life today.
When you turn 30, there is an instant pressure to take care of yourself more. In the past, I would worry about my oily face or if my makeup is gonna survive my entire shift. Now, I focus more on the things that can keep my skin healthy like making sure I sleep enough daily and picking the right products for my skin. But the latter is easier said than done!
I have been on the lookout for the best facial wash, toner, creams etc. I have recently started using Algenist’s Ultimate Anti-Aging Cream that I got from my Play by Sephora bag. I was hesitant to share it in my Sunday Sample Day segment because it’s not necessarily a sample that you get at Sephora but I got it from a subscription box and it’s not a full size tub so I thought that qualifies it to this segment.
Anyways, this tub contains 0.23 fl. oz. or 7 mL worth of product. This is available in two sizes at Sephora. If you wanna get the biggest size which is 2 fl.oz or 60 mL, you have to be prepared to pay $112 for it. Or you can also pay $75 and get the 1-ounce tub.
Here’s a link to a Sephora page that you can visit to know more about this product :
This currently has 4 point ish stars at Sephora and a lot of users are posting amazing things about this product. It’s pretty pricey but most of them say it’s worth it. If you wanna know my thoughts after using it for two weeks, then keep scrolling.
So this is how the tub looks like after 15 days of using this cream. I wish I took a picture of it before I started using it but oh well! That’s another lesson learned. Anyway, this was full when I got it. And I have to say, I am impressed that It’s not completely empty yet. I used it twice a day. I know most people use it as a night cream but since I am testing this product out, I didn’t wanna use other creams to make sure there are no other factors affecting the performance of the product.
A little goes a long way and I am not even exaggerating! Again, I used this twice a day for the past 15 days.
The formula is kinda weird. I thought if would feel like my other creams but it doesn’t. It’s not very creamy but it’s not liquidy as well. It’s kind of like in between. It actually looks like whipped cream but feels foamy. I really hope I am making sense right now!
I am 1000% sure that I already mentioned this in my blog but I am sharing it anyways, in case this is the first time you are dropping by my blog, I have combination skin. My T-zone can be extremely oily and my cheeks usually have dry patches. Two of the first things I noticed after using this cream is, my face didn’t get as oily as it usually do and my dry patches were gradually disappearing.
I didn’t see any huge difference on my face the first three days of using this. In fact, I saw a few bumpies on my forehead on day 1 and 2 but that’s kind of normal when you try new products (at least, for me) . They were all gone by day 4. I love that this was never itchy or uncomfy to my skin. The skin absorbs this really fast and it leaves the skin feeling and looking soft and healthy.
By the end of the first week, I noticed that my face looked brighter. It actually blurred out my pimple marks and my skin looked so much clearer and glowier (I hope that’s a right term but if not, then, it’s another word I made up). It felt so much softer and tighter than before.
I still have those fine lines under my eyes but they are definitely not as bad as they looked before I started using this cream. I didn’t really expect my fine lines to be gone in just two weeks. I am pretty sure I will need more tubs of this before that happens. I don’t know how this would work, or if this would even work for deeper set wrinkles but it’s definitely worth a try.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this cream. I will keep using it and will update you guys on Instagram once I have completely used up this tub so you’ll have an idea about this tub’s life span. So make sure to follow me after reading this blog.
Will I repurchase?
Absolutely! I definitely think that this product is worth it. You don’t need a lot to get the the nourishment your skin needs. So I think it would make more sense to invest on the bigger tub which I think will last for 6 months or so (depends on many factors) . I would still recommend that you get the sample first, if you can and see if it will work for you because the price tag isn’t funny at all. That’s a lot of money actually! So try it first and if it works, then buy the big tub.
This sample gets two super duper kaduper huge thumbs up from me! Definitely, a must have!
