Today’s Sunday Sample Day is featuring Bumble and Bumble’s Bb. Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil – Balm to Oil Pre-Shampoo Masque.
I have always been skeptical about the whole “pre-pooing” process. I just felt that shampoo and conditioner should be enough.
But, this oil is a total GAMECHANGER!
Keep scrolling to know why.
I got this sample with one of my Sephora orders. I have to admit, I have never used Bumble and Bumble products before I got this. I was excited but also a little hesitant. I have extremely thin and straight hair so I wasn’t so sure if this would work for me.
Before we talk about my experience, let me share a few deets about this product.
This is a balm to oil hair mask that you apply on your dry hair before shampooing. It claims to nourish and hydrates your hair. It will leave your hair feeling and looking really soft, silky and ultra manageable after one use.
The highly-concentrated balm liquifies in hands to release six transformative oils that help hydrate, soften, silken, detangle, and protect. The silicone-free formula locks in moisture for healthy-looking shine and softness.
What else you need to know:
This product is formulated without silicones, alcohol, or mineral oil. The award-winning Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil family is famed for pampering parched strands, thanks to a blend of six signature, featherlight oils.
It is extremely easy to use this product. Once a week, you just scoop out a decent amount of product from the tub. In my case, I had to push it out of the sample pack. Then, warm it between your hands and apply it on your dry strands. My hair strands are naturally straight and fine but my ends look ridiculously dry and brittle because of all the dyeing my hair went through. I used half of the sample pack. I felt that half was already enough for me.
After application, let it sit for 20 minutes, and then follow with your fave hair washing combo. Although, they highly recommend you use their Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. But we all know all brands does that. You can do what they say or you can do what I did. I used my current shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. That way, I can see how this performs on its own.
Like what I mentioned earlier, I was never into pre and post shampoo/conditioner treatment. The thought of applying something before and after shampoo and conditioner just seem like too much. Imagine actually doing it. Haha #lazygirlthoughts
I have always thought that it’s just a waste of product, time and money.
Since I got this free from Sephora. Why not?
Applying this mask was fun and easy. It has a waxy texture which makes total sense because it says “Balm to Oil”. Once applied on your hand, it melts like a dream. It looks a lot like butter as it melts. It transforms into a great oil blend that doesn’t have any overwhelming scent.
Here’s a photo of my hair before and after applying the mask. Excuse the crazy waves. I curled my hair the day before and tied it up before I went to bed.
Quite frankly, it was not as greasy as I expected it. For some reasons, I thought it would be crazy greasy but it wasn’t. It was pretty tolerable. Although I don’t recommend you keep touching your hair while the mask is still on unless you want oily hands.
I let it sit for about 25 minutes and then I rinsed it off. Super easy!
I did not blow dry my hair that day and this is how it looked!
Sorry I didn’t take a decent selfie that day. I was feeling under the weather and was in my pajamas the entire day. What I’m trying to say is, I hope this picture is enough to prove my point. LOL
I had high hopes on this product because I loved the previous Bumble and Bumble baby I used (Dry Shampoo) . And, I was not disappointed!
My hair was unbelievably soft. I can’t remember the last time my hair was that soft. It looked really healthy and shiny. It did not weigh my thin, straight hair down at all. And it stayed like that for days. Amazing! I was a crazy girl who couldn’t stop touching my hair.
It really made a difference on the ends of my hair. It was definitely less dry and does not look as brittle.
For y’all who are suckers for great smelling hair products, this won’t be at the top of your faves list. There is nothing funky about the scent but there is also nothing really special about it. Just not obsessed with the scent. You can maybe pick a shampoo and/or a conditioner that smells terrific. Then, you should be good!
The price point may be a deal breaker to some. It is available through Ulta, Sephora and of course, their website at $43 a tub which contains 3 ounces worth of product. I know it isn’t generally budget friendly but if you’re planning to splurge during the holidays, this is one of the few products that’s absolutely worth splurging on. You use it once a week so a tub will go a long way.
I do wanna mention that, since I have thin hair, I didn’t exactly know when to stop applying the product. I did apply half of the pack but I think I applied liberally which is probably why it was a little tricky to wash it off completely. My hair oiled up quicker than before. My guess is, I applied too much product. I should have applied a little less or should have spent more time washing it off.
A little goes a long way. Depending on the length and the thickness of your hair, this sample pack may be good for 1-3 uses. I can imagine ladies with thick hair would need to use a larger amount.
Overall, I am extremely happy with the result of this hair mask. My hair doesn’t look like it did before I exposed my hair to several hair treatments but I think I am on the right track.
I hope you find this helpful!
