Sunday Sample Day features Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask.
I have watched my favorite YouTubers rave about this hair mask. Imagine my disappointment when it didn’t turn out the way I expected it.
Kathleen Lights and Tati are just two of my favorite beauty gurus who had share their love for Briogeo products. Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask is one of, if not the most talked about Briogeo baby. I was over the moon when I finally got a hold of a sample.
This brand is admired and recognized for producing all-natural products. No Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates and many other harmful ingredients. That seriously deserves two huge thumbs up.
But, as much as I love to support a company that cares for the products they produced and their consumers, I can’t see myself buying products that do not really work on me the way it’s supposed to.
Let me get this straight, this is not the worst hair mask I have ever tried but there’s definitely nothing spectacular about this mask. I just don’t think it deserves the attention it’s getting.
I gave this mask 4 chances before finally writing this review. I tried adding and/or removing something to my haircare regimen just to see what could work best with this mask. I honestly hoped and prayed it would grow on me but it didn’t.
First day, I applied the entire thing on my hair and used it as the package instructed. I left it on for 10 minutes. I didn’t struggle in washing it all off but I did notice an alarming amount of hair fallout. I wasn’t born with many and thick hair so that was a major let down for me. I’ve always had hairfall problems but didn’t expect that from a mask and honestly, it’s the last thing I’d want from a hair mask. I let my hair air dry that day and it took a little bit longer to completely dry. And when it was completely dry, my hair felt and looked so dry. My roots are fine; it actually looks shiny but my ends was a hot mess.
Chance #2, I used my 2nd mask sample and used half of the pack. I left it on 10 minutes longer than my 1st use. I’m hoping this would give the mask more time to really get in there and work its magic but that wasn’t the case. My hair still felt dry and tangled.
I thought I might be overcooking my hair that’s why it’s too dry and rough. I used the remaining half of my 2nd sample pack a few days later and left it on for about 8 minutes. I was hoping it’s gonna be softer and will be cooked just right. BUT I got the same results.
Quite frankly, I didn’t know what else to do. I do know that I was beyond disappointed and I was ready to give up on this product.
A few days later, I was looking for a hair mask from another brand that I have been wanting to try when I saw my last Briogeo sample pack. I told myself, give this baby one last chance. So, I did. My hair felt so dirty and oily that day because I did not wash my hair for 3 days. I used the entire pack and left it on for about 15 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised by the results. I don’t know if my dirty hair is my lucky charm or 15 is my lucky number. My hair looked and felt way better than the results of my first few attempts. My ends was still dry but not as horrible. It felt fresh and clean the entire day. I liked it!
Here are some photos of me goofing around Nordstrom Rack that day.
I always try to use the products several times before I draft my reviews. That way, I can be fair to the brand as well. I really wanted to love this mask but I don’t think it’s meant for me.
- My hair smelled good.
- My roots looked shiny but not greasy
- No residue
- Easy to wash off
- My hair felt so dry so this may not be the best mask for rehydration
- Made my hair more tangled and knotty
- Crazy hair fall out
- On the pricey side
My cons list is just as long as my pros list. But I only liked it when I used it on my dirty hair. I rarely not wash my hair and I really don’t wanna change that just to see a product work.
IS THE SAMPLE ENOUGH?
This could be good for 1 to 2 uses depending on the length of your hair. If I only used one sample pack, I probably would tell you guys that this is by far the worst. Three sample packs were enough for me to realize that it’s not meant for me.
WOULD I PURCHASE THE FULL SIZE?
No. At the end of the day, I don’t wanna spend a lot on something that will not give me what I want from a hair mask.
WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS?
No but you may give it a try, if you really want to but don’t expect instant gratification. Try it using a sample size or their 30 ml container because that only costs $9 at Sephora I believe. Do not splurge on the full size just yet. It would be a total waste of money if it won’t work for you.
