My skincare routine was ever-changing! I think it will always be.
I love trying out skincare products so I introduce newbies to my routine very often but I thought of sharing with you what’s currently keeping me busy, SKINwise.
Don’t expect a fancy, 10-step skincare! I love taking care of my skin but I don’t love splurging especially if I don’t need to. Most of the products in my routine are from the drugstore or if not, they are either freebies/sent over for my reviews or personally bought but not overly pricey and definitely worth every buck.
Are you in the Philippines? If yes, we have a special treat for you. Keep reading and the details on the treat will be waiting for you below.
After flossing and brushing my teeth, I move on to taking all the makeup off my face. NEVER SLEEP WITH MAKEUP ON! I have always been into cleansing wipes and Micellar waters because they are extremely convenient but lately, I’ve been loving Clinique’s Take The Day Off Balm ($29.50). It’s balm to oil to milk formula just makes it so much easier to take every trace of makeup off your face. It doesn’t dry my face like what other makeup removers do. This doesn’t have any weird balm-y smell and it doesn’t sting my eyes as well.
After completely removing my makeup, there are about 5 steps I need to do before I go to bed. Five steps which pretty much means a good 20 minutes or so in the bathroom.
Step 1: CLEANSE
At night, I love a good, foamy cleanser that will give me that clean and fresh feeling. I actually have been using this Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters (Less than $10) to clean my face at night. I’ll be honest, I don’t LOVE this product because it dries my cheek areas a little but I love how it makes my skin feel so clean and fresh. I will most likely not repurchase it and try something else that can give me the same results minus the drying.
Step 2: TONE
Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner has been my go to toner for weeks now. Got this from amazon for $7 or $8 but I saw it was sold at a cheaper price at Walmart and Kroger. This is magic in a bottle! I have used several toners in the past but they either work for my dry areas but oil me up more or minimize my oil build up but turn my cheeks into Sahara desert. This, for some reasons, works perfectly on my combo skin. I do not see a lot of oil build up on my T-zone and it’s so gentle that it doesn’t dry my skin! I super love this! Huge Two Thumbs up!
Step 3: MOISTURIZE
Since my current facial wash can be a little bit drying, I team it up with a moisturizer that has a rich formula to bring the moisture back to my face. And you’ll love it because it’s from the drugstore and cost just around $10. This L’Oreal Collagen Moisture Filler ($8.99, price varies depending on the store) has become a holy grail moisturizer. It doesn’t matter how dry my face is before I apply this, I always see instant, amazing results after using this cream. Absolutely a must have! I recently used up my 1st tub and repurchased it a few days ago! I’m obsessed!
Step 4 : EYE CREAM
Turning 30 was something I wasn’t looking forward to. I dreaded it! But it wasn’t so bad. It just reminded me that I am not getting any younger. I suddenly become more aware of the things I wanna do in my life and the fine lines around my eyes. So, I have been searching for the best eye cream for me. Currently, I am using this Milky Dress Wrinkle and Whitening Eye Cream ($4.25) that I got from Althea Korea. This has brighten my under eye but hasn’t really helped in minimizing my fine lines. If you are looking for a good under eye brightener, definitely try this one out!
Step 5 : LIP BALM
The weather has transformed my lips from delicious to ridiculous! My lips were so dry and chapped because of winter. I started using these Kaya Essentials lip balms ($5) a few weeks ago! They are the softest lip balms I have ever used. They feel so good on the lips – lightweight and not sticky! Most importantly, they brought moisture back to my lips. Perfect for the winter! This has natural SPF 20 which protects your lips from the sun so perfect for summer too! Now, I have Kaya in my bedside table, in my bathroom, in my makeup purse and in my jeans’ pocket! Can’t live without it!
After all that, I can now zzzzzzzz!
IN THE MORNING.
My morning routine is not as long. I just brush my teeth. Then…
Step 1: CLEANSE
I have been enjoying Elemis SuperFood Facial Wash($25) in the morning lately. It cleans my face without drying my skin. It’s just very gentle on the skin. This used to be part of my night time routine but not a huge fan of the scent. One night, my significant other told me that my face smells so weird, very green juice-y so I decided to use this in the morning instead. I mean, Green Juice is not exactly on my sexiest-bedtime-topics list!
Step 2: TONE
I use the same toner because I love it a lot! I just wet a cotton round and then apply it on my skin.
Step 3 : MOISTURIZE
I’ve been grabbing Elemis Superfood Day Cream ($45) a lot. It used to be in my night time routine too but for the same reason as I shared above, I now use it in the morning. It just makes my skin look so healthy and feel so soft.

Lastly, I just reapply my lip balm. Told you! Can’t live without it!
Once a week, I EXFOLIATE!
This Lancer The Method Polish ($75) that I got from a subscription box is a great exfoliation pal! I just gently massage a decent amount of product on my face and this does the job without breaking me out or drying my skin. I wouldn’t normally pick it up because it’s crazyyyyy pricey and my wallet is gonna hang itself on the ceiling if I buy it. If you have the extra money for this, go! Worth the splurge! If you are like me who can’t afford this but still want to exfoliate, St. Ives Facial Scrubs are products I swear by! I know their Apricot Scrub is a cult fave but my personal fave is their Oatmeal scrub. It does the same job but is more gentle to your skin. This is perfect for folks with sensitive and/or dry skin.
If I want exfoliation to be quicker but still give me the same results, I use my Neogen Dermalogy Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling – Lemon ($27). This is an exfoliating pad that clears and brightens your skin. I love that the pad has two sides – a ridgy side that I use to scrub my skin and a smooth side to wrap up the process. This has an AHA chemical exfoliant that sinks into your skin to break down the dirt and oil in your skin. At times, I wash it off but there are times that I sleep on it. There are also times that I apply my makeup on top of this and for some crazy reasons, my face just looks more radiant and healthier.
I WEAR A MASK TOO! Twice or thrice a week, I love taking myself to a mini “spa getaway” but in the comfort of our couch. These Mizon sheet masks have been my go-to for weeks now. I got this 16-pc set from Amazon for $14. Quite a deal! Sheet masks just gives my skin the break it deserves!
