What’s New this Wednesday?! I am sharing my thoughts on Pond’s Original Fresh Moisture Clean Towelletes. I heard a lot about this makeup wipes but the reviews weren’t consistently good but not always bad. So, I decided to test it myself and share my unfiltered thoughts on this.
I was so excited for our New York trip that I forgot to pack our makeup remover. So, we picked this up at a Walgreens in New York. It wasn’t incredibly inexpensive to be honest but it was one of the cheaper options at that time. This was $4.99, I believe and you get only 15 towelettes. The price varies but y’all already know that.
Will I repurchase this makeup remover / towelette? NO WAY!
If you wanna know why, keep scrolling!
Product Details (based on the brand’s website) :
Perfectly clean & fresh in an instant. No other leading towelette is better at removing impurities. Now with an even blend of fibers and polyester, POND’S makeup remover wipes deliver more absorbency and a smoother cleansing experience for the skin.
Infused with POND’S® Cold Cream technology, Vitamin E and a Triple Anti-Oxidant complex, these soft textured cloths revitalize the skin by gently lifting away all traces of makeup, leaving it perfectly clean and soft. They’re dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic, and safe for contact lens wearers.
Now with a rigid lens closure, towelette dry-out is minimized. Keep a pack at home and one in your purse for on-the-go convenience!
On an extremely lazy day, I’d choose cleansing wipes over a cleansing balm, liquid makeup removers, etc. Simply because it allows me to skip a whole bunch of steps. Girl, you need that if you had a long day!
I love the blue and white packaging. I think it’s really cute but nothing very unique or special about it. I’ve seen better seals! This one easily broke off which caused the liquid to leak inside my bag and the towelettes started to dry as well.
The actual fabric feels thin and soft. It’s a little too soft that you have to work harder to remove your makeup off. The towelettes are also wetter and more soapy than other brands I have used. They feel kind of slimy actually. They feel so drenched that you may want to squeeze some liquid out of it before you use it. And when you start rubbing it on your skin, you’ll see trails of soap bubbles all over your face. I wouldn’t usually have a problem with that because I normally wash my face after using cleansing wipes but they say NO RINSING NEEDED on the packaging! I don’t know about you, but I don’t like laying in bed with soap on my face.
DOES IT DO THE JOB?
It can take your makeup off! If that’s your definition of the “job”, then YES, it does the job. It can actually remove long wearing mascaras and eyeliner. My problem is, it requires a lot of rubbing your skin to make it work which isn’t exactly good for your skin because that can cause wrinkles around your eyes.
It easily takes my foundation off which I like. I didn’t see a lot of makeup on my cotton pad after toning my face which is a good sign.
Very interestingly, there were days that it stung my eyes when I tried removing my eyeliner on my waterline but there were days it didn’t. I can only assume that it stung my eyes on days I didn’t get a lot of rest or sleep so my eyes may have been more sensitive. I experienced that before but using a different brand. So, that was on me!
The biggest reason why I don’t love the product is, my skin felt so dry after using these wipes. My skin is already dry; I seriously don’t need an extra dose of dryness. I paid for taking my makeup off, not sucking the moisture out of my skin. It just felt dull and drier than ever. That was a major let down for me!
I do not recommend these wipes at all especially if you have combination to very dry skin type. For its price, I am very disappointed! You can get better products from the drugstore with $4.99 so check your other options. I have tried ELF’s makeup wipes which is around $2 bucks and that one’s way better than this one. Don’t waste your time and money on this one.
